Full Connection with Latin-American Language and Culture

Learning Through Action

ABC Spanish In Motion is committed to providing enriching classes that expose children to Spanish at an early age. We aim to plant a seed of cultural awareness and interest that will grow and foster diversity of thought and cultural sensitivity within the growing generation.

ABC Spanish In Motion carefully selects practical, useful and fascinating topics to engage children easily in this adventure. Children are immersed fully in Spanish through the duration of each class. The curricula includes common subjects familiar to children in their native languages (colors, numbers, shapes, routines, commands etc), but also includes themes unique to Latin America, such as Latin rhythms, foods, countries, animals, etc. The academic year is divided in four trimesters. We record new music each season that includes original compositions as well as interpretations of classic childcare's songs of the Spanish-speaking world.

Developing Cognitive, Physical and Social Skills

The Spanish program is designed for children who have limited or no prior experience with Spanish. We promote and develop Spanish language skills through music and songs that allows for a long period of listening and developing comprehension along with responses to commands that require physical movement (TPR - Total Physical Response) , poetry, games and stories every child will love. The curricula addresses:

  • Emotions: Identifying, understanding and mimicing a whole range of emotions.
  • Colors and Shapes: Identification and recognition within stories or songs - not simply repeating names.
  • Music and Movement: Building physical coordination and confidence. We also celebrate beautiful rhythms and dances from the diverse world of Latin America. Instrument playing.
  • Social and Dramatic Play: Allowing children to fit the reality of the world into their own interests and knowledge. Creating a natural and playful space for drama that needs no written lines to memorize. Role Play. Puppets. Stimulating imagination.
  • Comprehension: Observation, listening, and following directions through simple commands, and making predictions.
  • Reading: Fostering a love for reading in a new language and word comprehension through illustration and story.
  • Science: Exploration of nature, animals and ecosystems.
  • Social and Cultural Diversity: Developing an interest in and respect for other cultures. Stimulating confidence.
  • Math: Pattern recognition, sequences, numbers, and shapes in different contexts.
  • Sign language: American Sign Language recognition and association with words and ideas that were already learned in early stages of life..
